High Mount

Dominant Positions

High Mount is mount ridden well up the torso, with the knees in or above the armpits and the partner's elbows cut off from their hips. It trades stability for attack: the bottom partner can no longer reach the hips to start an elbow escape, but the top partner's own base is shorter, so it is usually taken deliberately for a moment rather than held.
